Job Description UPMC NORTHWEST Hospital Seneca, PA Specimen
Processor Status: Full Time (40 hours/week) Shift: typically,
1:30p-10p & rotating weekends Specimen Processors collect,
organize, and route lab samples; enter and share results; answer
phones, handle paperwork, help train staff, and complete routine
office duties. Responsibilities: - Provide courteous, respectful
service; show initiative and assist with departmental needs -
Monitor pneumatic tube and courier deliveries for timely specimen
processing - Receive, sort, prioritize, and distribute specimens
per lab policy - Verify specimens and requisitions for accuracy;
resolve errors and document issues - Centrifuge, label, aliquot,
and store specimens according to policy - Enter specimen receipt
times and requests into the laboratory information system - Answer
phone inquiries regarding specimen collection, results, and
reference ranges - Prepare, package, and send specimens to outside
laboratories as needed - Follow all health and safety regulations
for handling biohazardous materials - Notify supervisors of issues
requiring clarification or credit - Disinfect work areas during and
after shifts - Assist with training and orientation of new staff -
Perform routine technical and clerical duties as assigned - High
school diploma or equivalent Required. - 3–6 months experience in a
clinical or medical setting preferred, - 3–6 months customer
service or call center experience preferred - Strong oral and
written communication skills - Ability to communicate effectively
with diverse populations, in person and by phone Licensure,
