Electrical BACKGROUND:Founded in 1995 by a group of experienced
certification and testing experts, QAI is an independent
third-party testing, inspection and certification organization
which serves the building, technology, and construction industries
(among others) with cost effective solutions through our in-house
capabilities / services, and an established world-wide network of
qualified affiliates. The QAI name and logo have become well
recognized throughout the Certification world resulting in steady
growth of our Certification, Testing, and Inspection business
streams. The Technical Specialist will support the Electrical
Safety Department at all of our locations in the US and Canada.
This role involves evaluation, testing, report writing and
performing inspections on various types of electrical products
including products used in hazardous locations. DUTIES: The
successful candidate will perform, but not be limited to, the
following duties:Perform testing and evaluation of electrical
products as business dictates to nationally recognized electrical
safety standards (CSA, UL, IEC, etc.).Provides overall technical
expertise for IT/Hi-Tech (IEC-62368), lighting, industrial,
laboratory test and measurement (61010), medical (60601) and/or
hazardous location products, training, reviewer, testing,
inspection and certification.Ensures sound technical decisions are
made for testing, inspection and certification programs within the
discipline Provides training and leadership to other technical
staff within the discipline Work to grow all aspects of our
Electrical Departments business.Overall responsibility for ensuring
activities under the relevant scope of technical expertise are
compliant to ISO 17025, ISO 17020, and/or ISO 17065 for the
pertinent programs for which this position oversees. Ensures
Quality Management System policies, procedures, and work
instructions are followed. Recommend competency matrix level
changes for supervised staff Recommend new business opportunities
or business direction. Makes recommendations on test equipment.
Assists with scope expansions, technical audits, and resolution of
CARs Provides technical knowledge within the relevant background
and department for which this position oversees or is assigned to.
Takes the lead in qualifying new complicated test set-ups or
equipment. Assists in program set up for developing policies,
procedures and forms. Review test reports, inspection reports,
evaluation reports, as necessary to ensure activities meet the
requirements of the relevant accreditation criteria. Interact
effectively and professionally with customers and staff, as
required.Scope of technical authority shall be limited by the level
of authorization as shown in the Competency Matrix Maintain a high
level of technical competency in the relevant discipline Travel
throughout Canada and the USA as business dictates.Be part of an

assigned by their manager from time to time QUALIFICATIONS: The
successful candidate will:Bachelor's degree in electrical
engineering, or equivalent.5 years directly related
experience.Possess superior MS Word and Excel skills, be proficient
with Email and Adobe Acrobat.Possess "Good Laboratory Practice"
skills essential for testing products.Possess good interpersonal
and communication skills. Key Technical Competence: Knowledge of
accreditation standards and requirements.Able to provide technical
guidance on requirements in testing, inspection, and/or
certification in their relevant field of expertise.Able to identify
business opportunities for the organization with sound judgment in
making recommendations.Able to make sound judgments on test methods
and/or standards within their field of expertise.Able to identify
opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action when
deemed necessary to ensure QAI meets technical requirements.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Candidates must hold a valid passport, or be
able to obtain a valid passport, and must be able to travel to the
US and international destinations.The successful candidate will
progress, subject to satisfactory performance, through a 3-month
