Job Description UPMC Kane is currently hiring a full-time CT
Tech Multi Skill to join their team! Responsibilities: *Performs in
accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. *Performs other
duties as assigned. Administers PO, rectal and IV contrast per
physician orders/department policy and assess patients for
potential risk factors prior to the administration of the contrast
media required for the imaging procedure. Demonstrates a strong
ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while
displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect.
Able to work as team member within the department and all other
departments to expedite patient care efficiently. Demonstrates a
willingness to learn new skills and a willingness to educate others
in their areas of expertise. Serves as a resource for new hires and
students. Demonstrates proper technique in venipuncture;
demonstrates proper use of power injector according to set
protocols set by department and/or manufacturer. Demonstrates the
ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and
concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patients
fears and solicit their cooperation. Ensures all exams within
his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked
through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for
archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately
entered for the exams performed. Identifies all patients properly
by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol
when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and assesses
physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for
optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient
history in electronic record as required. Maintains flexibility to
work within different clinical areas to support the needs of the
departments and/or business units to ensure that staffing is
adequate to support services across the enterprise. Maintains
assigned workflow patterns at site based on patient volumes and
continually communicates with supervisors and/or managers. Performs
a variety of technical procedures that require independent
judgement to adjust protocols, and initiative to apply prescribed
ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
Performs computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan
protocols, including contrast administration without requiring
constant supervision. Utilizes complex imaging equipment for the
acquisition, analysis, reconstruction and documentation of image
data and completes procedures according to protocol. Works as team
member within assigned departments to expedite patient care
efficiently by demonstrating excellent communication and customer
service skills. Effectively communicate with physicians,
co-workers, managers, and patients in assigned sites and/or
departments. American Registered Radiologic (ARRT) OR Nuclear
Medical Technologist (NMTC) OR certified by a CNMT program is
required. Must maintain 2 imaging registries/certifications and
maintain competency in all as required by hiring Business Unit.
Must be willing and demonstrate flexibility to be assigned to any
of the maintained registries by leadership. Must provide
flexibility to work least one off-shift (evening, nights or
weekend), every 90 days as requested by imaging leadership. CPR
required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and
skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. All CT
Technologist working in NY facilities performing contrast media
injection are required to have received certification from the
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear
Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and be Licensed
through the New York State Department of Health. Completion of
formal training in an accredited CT program required. When rotating
between two or more specialties, must hold registry in each
specialty. Must have obtained a performance review rating of
strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible
for promotion. Act 31 Mandated Reporter Training within 90 days of
hire or transfer - ARRT Certificate - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
with renewal - Act 33 with renewal - Act 34 with renewal - Act 73
